What I Do

Investment banker turned DJ, ZEEMUFFIN (Zainab Hasnain) is baking up fresh sounds all around New York City. She’s played everywhere from underground warehouse parties to NYC’s most sought after clubs such as Gilded Lily, Output, Kinfolk, Avenue, SOB’s, Colette and Riff Raffs and DJ’d and opened up for artists such as Flosstradamus, Grandtheft, Bunji Garlin, A$AP Nast, Blu, Ramriddlz, Forte Bowie, and CASHY. She’s also held it down for Tribeca Film Festival and New York Fashion Week.

Born in Pakistan and raised in New York, her impressive knowledge of music speaks to her diverse roots. Her foundation in music started at a young age, as a classically trained viola player and bhangra dancer. She spent her teens sneaking into every NYC show she could get into and religiously studying hip hop. All of this has contributed to her unique genre blending taste and sharp technical skills.

Her contagious energy never fails to shine through her sets. She combines a variety of sounds from classic to current hip hop, electronic, future R&B and bass, jersey club and a touch of mainstream, that please underground heads and club-goers alike.

In an industry dominated by men, ZEEMUFFIN has carved a unique space for herself as a go-to DJ, especially for her hip-hop sets. She currently holds a residency with Major Lazer’s Jillionaire in association with Feel Up Records called #WHATTHEFUSS and is slated to put out an EP of her original productions by 2016.
